Message From The Minister
Getting Lost?
One of the most terrifying feelings—especially to a child is to be lost. In Robert Fulghum’s book, All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, he shares one of his rules for life: When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Sounds like good advice. One thing is certain, staying close to those we care about is a powerful way to a person stay on the right track. God created in each of us a need for togetherness or community. No one functions very well all alone (at least not for a long period of time). We get lonely. We miss our friends and family. We want to be with others to talk, to share, and to interact.
One of the reasons that Christ created a church (family of Christians) is to meet this very basic need in all of us for family. Life can be very challenging and painful at times—we need others to encourage us along the way. Those that try to go it alone, usually end up struggling and may even lose their way.
God has also revealed Himself through His Word—the Bible. It is so wonderful to realize that God is not trying to hide from humanity…He wants to know each one of us on an intimate and personal level. Maybe this is why the Psalmist wrote, Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105). He felt that God was leading him through life and all of the challenges he could face by speaking through His Word. If you feel lost or need a friend, why not give Mount Hope a try and find the family you have been looking for.
Lost Keys
Have you ever lost your keys? I have. And that never seems to come at a "good time". It's always when you're already 5 minutes late, or tense about a big project. But, it feels so good when my wife or the kids stop what they're doing and join me in the search. It not only goes faster...but, feels great to know someone cares and is along side you.
That's what Mt. Hope church is: a group of people that help each other find their "missing keys". We can't promise to have all the answers, all the time. But we can promise to stop what we're doing, join you in the search, (and we may even ask you to help us find OUR keys once in a while.)
