In Romans 10:14-15, Paul wrote: “How then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?”
So often, we key on the part of this verse that talk about those who “bring the good news”. While this is important, notice that Paul also stresses the importance of those who send them. We are convinced this is not just referring to those who point the way, but more importantly those who make it possible for them to go.
Mission Outreach efforts at Mt. Hope Church of Christ are supported by pledges made by the members at Mt.Hope. This is done through multiple ways throughout the year, with Brown bag lunches, weekly contributions and special fund raising efforts.
Historically, the response to support mission outreach has been far beyond our expectations and we all greatly appreciate that effort. But the task is not over with the financial support. Often in the church it is easy to pledge or give a certain amount of money and then sit back and feel like we have “done our part”.
The three areas of focus are:
1. Prayers specifically for those in the mission fields.
2. Actively pursue knowledge of how our money is being spent in the mission field so we can be good stewards of what God has provided for us.
3. Personal contact with those in the mission field through calls, letters and email.
